Resumen: The portable MinION sequencer (ONT) has become mainstream due to its small size and cost-effective device. Now, it is an essential tool for pathogen surveillance and clinical diagnostic as these applications would benefit from the real-time nature of this technology. Despite all the advantages, ONP reads bear high rates of errors (>15%). Barcodes are not resistant to the high sequencing errors which interfere negatively in the correct sequence determination, a critical issue in clinical diagnostics or sample characterization. The objective of this work was to develop a method for multiplex ONP sequencing. We took advantage of MinION to perform a rapid characterization of the E1 Chikungunya virus gene by multiplexing a high number of clinical samples from cancer individuals infected with the virus.
