Resumen: In this paper we study the decentralized controlconfiguration for water level control with added local feed-forward (FF) control. The water level control application is apractical example where the use of communication hardwareis inescapable. Therefore in our study we consider that onoccasions the FF loops will be rendered ineffective due to theinability of the related communication channels to transmit atthe required times. We consider first the case in which someFF loops are not operational for a long time (static failureconfiguration) and propose a stability analysis that shows thatas long as the original feedback decentralized control is stablethe overall configuration, including the possibly failing FF links, will remain stable. We then consider the more challenging caseof time-varying faults on these FF loops and their effect onthe overall stability of the system and finally the more generalcase in which the control action can be FF to all upstreamcontrollers, not just the adjacent one.
